About Our Organization
ABOUT FOOD & FRIENDS Established in 1988, Food & Friends was founded to provide home-delivered meals and friendship to people living with HIV/AIDS. These services remain at the core of our mission: fostering a community caring for men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-challenging illnesses by preparing and delivering specialized meals and groceries in conjunction with nutrition counseling.
Food & Friends helps family members, friends and loved ones provide care and support for our clients and, when possible, promotes self-sufficiency.
Food & Friends is the only nonprofit organization in the Washington, DC, region providing these services. Our chefs and registered dieticians design meals that meet the special dietary needs of persons living with a broad range of life-challenging illnesses. Our confidential services are free of charge to individuals and families living throughout the District of Columbia, seven counties in Maryland, and seven counties and six independent cities in Virginia. Please join us in the fight against HIV/AIDS and other life-challenging illnesses by Dining Out on Thursday, March 5th at one of our Participating Restaurants or by Making a Contribution Today!
