Get Your Employer to Match Your Gift
You can double - or sometimes triple - your gift to Food & Friends when your employer matches it. Check with your company's human resources department to see if your employer has a matching gifts program or contact Ellen Root to learn more about how your company can get involved.
Make a Gift of Stock
Giving appreciated stock is a fast and easy way to make a gift to Food & Friends and receive considerable tax benefits. In fact, many people find that the tax benefits associated with giving to Food & Friends actually allow them to increase the size of their gift. To learn how you can make a gift of stock to Food & Friends, please contact Pat Cornell, 202.269.6870. Learn how to transfer stock.
Make an In-Kind Gift
In addition to money and stock, certain items can be donated to help Food & Friends. Of particular importance are donations of microwaves and PUR water filters, which we provide directly to our clients. We also accept donations of cars and other vehicles (see below). If you have an item you wish to donate, please call us at 202.269.2277. To view our wish list of in-kind items click here.
Planned Giving and Bequests
You can leave a legacy that will last for generations by designating Food & Friends in your will or by making a planned gift with multiple benefits. Some types of planned gifts can help those we serve and provide you with a charitable income tax deduction, minimize capital gains taxes, reduce estate taxes or provide you or others with an annual income for life. Our official name for designation purposes is “Food & Friends, Inc.” and our federal tax identification number is 52-1648941. To learn more about these types of gifts and let us know of your commitment, please contact Pat Cornell, 202.269.6870.
