Food & Friends will be open throughout the week of Christmas to New Year’s. We hope that you will help us to spread holiday cheer and critical nutrition to those in our community living with life-challenging illnesses by joining us as a volunteer. Below you will find the various volunteer opportunities available this holiday season!
Christmas & New Year's Week (non-holidays)
Meal Deliveries
Saturday, December 19th, 26th & January 2nd
Make the most of your days off. Gather your friends and family to deliver freshly prepared meals, groceries and friendship to our clients living in DC, MD and VA. Delivery shifts are at 9am and 10am. An orientation will be held for you before each shift.
Monday, December 21st - Thursday, December 24th
Monday, December 28th - Thursday, December 31st
Help with deliveries is needed on these days as well, however you cannot sign up for these shifts online. Please contact Don Pitz, Delivery Volunteer Coordinator, at dpitz@foodandfriends.org or call (202) 269-6835 to sign up for these days.
Kitchen Opportunities
December 21st - 24th (No 6-8pm Shift on 24th)
December 28th - 31st (No 6-8pm Shift on 31st)
Our kitchen will be as busy as we prepare thousands of meals for our clients. Lend a hand chopping veggies, portioning soup or packing meal bags while sharing the holiday spirit with others. Two-hour shifts are available from 8-10am, 10am-noon, 1-3pm & 6-8pm. An orientation will be held before each shift.

Help to deliver meals and spread cheer to our clients on Christmas and New Year's Day. Delivery shifts are at 10am on Christmas Day, and 8am, 9am and 10am on New Year's Day. An orientation will be held before each shift.
Kitchen Opportunities
Thursday, January 1st
Share a portion of the holiday with us as we pack meals, prepare food and pack groceries. No prior experience needed! The shifts on New Year’s Day are 8-10am and 10am-noon. An orientation will be held before each shift.
